Photography 2.4

Welcome back! After last weeks let down I got after it this week with a new technique that I had never hear of before but I tried it out. This technique is called the rule of thirds. Basically what you have to do is imagine that there are two horizontal and two vertical lines across the image and focus what ever you are taking a picture of on one of those focal points where the lines intersect. top-ten-digital-photography-tips1
I did not take this picture but it does give a good representation of the technique in use. I tried this out on my way to Fort Keogh this week and I thought that they turned out alright. I think that the use of the archway and sign was a good start for me. It is a simple shot but I think that it is a step in the right direction.


These are the photos I took. After figuring this out I think I need to work on sun exposure next, and how to use that as an advantage or get rid of it all together. I was overall happy with these pictures and I am right on track with my plan and excited to see what comes next week!

    Photography is a handy skill to learn.You seem to have grasped this new technique well, the pictures turned out good! You will become more advanced as you take more pictures and practice more. Keep up the good work.

    Those pictures look awesome! It looks like you are really coming along on photography. That seemed like a cool technique to use, and it looks like it turned out. You're doing an awesome job!

Welcome back, taxidermy has really taken off this week. For a while I have been doing mostly busy work preparing for that actual mounting of the quail. I am on track with my planning and will have this all mounted with plenty of time to create a habitat or a creative way to display it. So I started off by fleshing and skinning the quail. The ones that we had thawed out were very beat up, they had holes from dog bites and broken bones from the transporting process.  Skinning these birds was much more difficult than I anticipated, the skin is very, very thin and I would be lying if I said I didn't cut a few holes. One of the wings was completely broken so that made the process of removing the skin off of the wings without further damage quite difficult. Photography 2.6

For this week, I am going to take what I have learned so far in my photography project and outline the main mistakes I have made, as well as the things you should never do while taking pictures. Some of the tips I have either read online or learned from my friends who are really good at photography. Five Things A Photographer Should Never Do Never use the flash when taking indoor pictures- I have done this and did not realize that it is looked down upon in the photography world....oops  Never shoot into direct sunlight- Always results in blotches like these. Never cut people off at the joints- I do not usually take pictures of people but this is a big one when it comes to portraits. ex: she is cut off at the ankles Never take pictures if you are shaking really bad- A tripod is always a good idea if you struggle to hold steady.
