Photography 2.3


Welcome back bloggers! This week I chose my new skill/ perspective  to be the use of flash and catching the right angle. I planned on getting outside to take pictures but it gets so dark early that it has been hard to find time to get out so this week I decided to challenge myself a little and try some indoor pictures. This was difficult because I have not really used my flash very often and the room where we keep the mounts is not very well lit. I also found that the large objects are hard to capture in one picture without it looking awkward. I honestly wasn't very happy with my pictures this week but I hope to improve my skills in this area and hopefully get outside this week sometime. I am thinking maybe I should take some pictures on my way out to Fort Keogh, it should be a fun challenge finding a good subject to take pictures of given there is really nothing green out right now. 
I am on schedule as far as my plan I focused on flash and lighting indoors this week and I hope to work on focus and ground level perspectives next week.

    This is a very interesting project and I understand that lighting can be very difficult to work with when taking pictures. It seems to me that you were able to work well with what was available to you this week. Do you have any specific plans for your pictures after the end of this project, like entering them into the fair?

    Elise, I think the pictures look great! Time management is something that can be very difficult to deal with. A person can get very busy and lose track of time. But, it looks like you managed to persevere and still get something done. I think utilizing your time at Fort Keogh for some pictures is a great idea. Keep up the good work!

    This is a very cool project honestly. Photography can capture the best moments in life. There are some very amazing pictures out there and maybe you will be the next one to get them!

Welcome back, taxidermy has really taken off this week. For a while I have been doing mostly busy work preparing for that actual mounting of the quail. I am on track with my planning and will have this all mounted with plenty of time to create a habitat or a creative way to display it. So I started off by fleshing and skinning the quail. The ones that we had thawed out were very beat up, they had holes from dog bites and broken bones from the transporting process.  Skinning these birds was much more difficult than I anticipated, the skin is very, very thin and I would be lying if I said I didn't cut a few holes. One of the wings was completely broken so that made the process of removing the skin off of the wings without further damage quite difficult. Photography 2.6

For this week, I am going to take what I have learned so far in my photography project and outline the main mistakes I have made, as well as the things you should never do while taking pictures. Some of the tips I have either read online or learned from my friends who are really good at photography. Five Things A Photographer Should Never Do Never use the flash when taking indoor pictures- I have done this and did not realize that it is looked down upon in the photography world....oops  Never shoot into direct sunlight- Always results in blotches like these. Never cut people off at the joints- I do not usually take pictures of people but this is a big one when it comes to portraits. ex: she is cut off at the ankles Never take pictures if you are shaking really bad- A tripod is always a good idea if you struggle to hold steady.
